Phone Call Between Mr. Nasser Bourita and His Surinamese Counterpart, Mr. Albert Ramdin
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita held this Monday, August 24, a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Cooperation of the Republic of Suriname, Mr. Albert Ramdin.
On this occasion, Mr. Bourita congratulated Mr. Ramdin for his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs wishing him success and great achievement in the conduction of the Surinamese diplomacy.
Mr. Bourita and Mr. Ramdin expressed their deep satisfaction at the level reached by the Morocco-Suriname relations and welcomed the fruitful cooperation that led to the realisation of concrete joint projects.
They put forward their firm willingness to strengthen, enrich and further diversify bilateral cooperation, and emphasized their commitment to the support of the issues of common interest such as peace, stability and human development.
The conversation also focused on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ways in which both countries are addressing it. In this context, Mr. Bourita affirms the readiness of Morocco to provide an urgent assistance to Suriname in order to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, Mr. Ramdin has reiterated on this occasion the position of Suriname as expressed in March 2016 of withdrawal of recognition of the so called « rasd » and in favour of the commitment of Morocco to a peaceful and consensual political solution, within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty and its territorial integrity.
Mr. Bourita invited his Surinamese counterpart, Mr. Ramdin to pay an official visit to Morocco, before the end of the year, in order to sign a new roadmap and identify new opportunities for continuous collaboration.
