Lindsay Lohan steps out in a hijab
Lindsay Lohan’s got a new look.
Following rumors that she has converted to Islam, Lohan wore a black hijab to a London Modest Fashion Week show.
London Modest Fashion Week was launched in 2017 by Haute Elan, a major player in the modest fashion movement The conservative trend focuses on covered-up looks, including many specifically geared toward Muslim women, such as those including hijabs and abayas.
“Fashion doesn’t always have to be so naked. [It] can be adventurous and still beautiful with a strong group of women behind it,” the actress told BBC minute after the show.
For those who keep up with Lohan’s exploits, her hijab debut wasn’t so shocking: Since this past spring, there’s been buzz that the actress has converted to Islam since last spring. She’s told the press that’s she’s read the Quran and has expressed interest in learning Arabic. In January 2018, she changed her Instagram bio to read “Salam Aleikum,” a common greeting among Muslims that translates to “peace be upon you.”
