India cancels an agreement of armament of 500 million with Tel Aviv
The Rafael Company, cited by the Israeli daily news site, said that “the agreement provided for buying anti-tank missiles, and that its abolition is the result of a conflict” internal policy in India”, without providing more details.
The Israeli ‘Rafael Advanced Defence Systems’ armaments company said Tuesday, that the Indian Government had officially informed him of the cancellation of a significant agreement of half a billion dollars that would have been reached between the two Parties, reported the Israeli newspaper, “Yediot Aharonot”. The Rafael company, cited by the Israeli daily information site, said that “the agreement provided for the purchase of missiles, anti-tank, and that its abolition is the result of a political conflict internal in India”, without providing more details. The Indian Ministry of Defense, announced on Tuesday, in a statement quoted by the Indian newspaper, “The Economic Times” that the Indian Government had approved the anti-tank missile purchase of the Israeli “Rafael Advanced Defence Systems arms company “for a cost of nearly US $ 72 million.
The cancellation of the agreement, according to the Israeli newspaper, occurs shortly before the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, made a four day visit to India scheduled for mid-January. Barak type missiles, manufactured by “Rafael Advanced Defence Systems”, should be used on the first Indian carrier, currently being manufactured. Furthermore, Israel has recently become a major supplier of weapons to the India, both sides having already signed arms contracts worth millions of dollars.
