Monday afternoon before the correctional tribunal of Brussels, the Prosecutor required a sentence of eight years in prison against the nursery teacher warned of having caused the death of the little girl Malaika. This 10 months girl, who was welcomed to the ‘Baby Hugs’ nursery in Berchem-Saint-Agathe, died March 21, 2015, as a result of shaken baby syndrome.
The Attorney, as the civil party before it, found that the defendant was guilty of assault and battery causing death without intent. She has thus required a sentence of 8 years in prison. Malaika had died in the hospital from internal bleeding, after a malaise in the crib ” Cuddles baby ” in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe. Then, the autopsy revealed that the child had been a victim of shaken baby syndrome. One of caregivers of the crèche had then been charged.
