Young girl, 5, drowned in Morocco pool on first day of family holiday after lifeguards left for the day
A FIVE-year-old girl drowned while on holiday with her family at a five-star resort in Morocco, an inquest has heard.
Little Jasmine Warner was found at the bottom of the steps to the pool at the Aqua Fun Hotel, in Marrakech, last August.
t was just the first day of the family’s trip away to the north African country.
Mum Lesley Ogunduyile had left her daughter at the side of the pool with her then partner while she spoke to other members of the group of nine adults and seven children she was with, the Evening Standard reports.
It is believed the five-year-old ran down the steps to the pool after taking off her armbands – which she couldn’t swim without and tragically drowned.
The hearing was told that there were lifeguards around the pool earlier on in the day but by the time the incident happened it was 6.45pm and they had already left.
In inquest heard that mum Lesley, an office administrator, had gone to the pool with Jasmine but eventually got out and took her daughter to dry off and sit on the side while she went to talk to the group.
It was said that she was gone for just seven minutes.
